Did you know that onions are health boosters? A popular cold and flu remedy is syrup made from onions and honey. Cut an onion up and then, after putting the pieces of the onion into a bowl and pour honey over them. It is important that this syrup has time to settle so, after combining the ingredients, it needs to sit, untouched, at least overnight. If you eat some of the mixture every few hours for two or three days the cold should start to fade. It is easy to add onions to your food, something that would go a long way to helping you stay healthy. People have used ginger as a cure for the cold or flu for years. Thankfully ginger is something that most people have on hand-either in their spice cabinets or in some of the hot tea varieties that might be hanging out in the kitchen. It certainly can't hurt to increase your ginger intake if you start to feel like you're getting a cold or coming down with the flu. Ginger contains elements that work against germs and help you heal. Getting sick could become a thing of the past if you regularly eat ginger.

Use tea! The best teas for people suffering from the cold or a bout of the flu are elder tea, yarrow tea or peppermint tea. Making your own tea with helpful ingredients is useful as well. The tea will help you sweat which is always helpful in ridding your body of the toxins that are trying to take over while you deal with your cold or flu.
